St George’s Hall is a charitable organisation, operated by a charitable company governed by a Board of Trustees.
The title of the charitable company is SGH Venue Management (SGHVM), which is accountable to the Charity Commission for England and Wales, as well as to Companies House. Its Charity number is 1149422, and its Company number is 08113183.
There are six trustees. Reflecting the history of the refurbishment of the Hall, two trustees are nominated by Bewdley Festival Limited, two by Bewdley Development Trust and two by Bewdley Christian Community Hall Limited. Once appointed, trustees are not representatives of these organisations – the role of Trustees is to ensure that the SGHVM is doing what it was set up to do. They lead the charity and decide how it is run.
SGHVM was set up to ensure that the Hall provides a valuable service to the communities of Bewdley. More details of the remit of SGHVM are given in its Articles of Association, which can be viewed by clicking on this link Articles of Association.
As they are required to, trustees take their role seriously, and have developed a comprehensive system of governance to ensure that the Hall will be able to serve the community for the long term, and that risks to its operation are identified and managed.
The current trustees are:
Roger Key (Vice Chair)
Paul Warnett (Chair)
